Rule 1

Wed Feb 15, 2012 1:29 am by Alvina

For as long as Beasties has existed, the must-be-a-beast rule has been in place. However, in the cases where people arn't using an obvious beast outfit, it has always been a little vague. It's about time it got defined better and this new system is my idea on how to do this, please tell me what you think and if you have a better idea!

Those who are already in the SG that have a beast outfit that doesn't hold up to the new system may stay, this is for future recruitment only.

Basically... using a beast head is almost an insta-win for counting as a beast, but for those rare cases where players use a human head to try and achieve a more non-default beast look, it's always "this looks beastial enough to me" or "mjeh that doesn't really look like a beast imo", so here's a system where certain beastial features gives a set number of points, and to look beastial enough you need to reach a certain number of points. This is also to allow the cat ears based beast outfits while ruling out the basic nekkos and playboy bunnies.

Total points needed to pass as a "beast": 14

Feline, Rat, Vulture, Serpent Horned, Serpent Sleep, Serpent, Horned Lizard, Crocodile, Alligator, Jackal, Shark Great White, Shark Hammerhead, Shark Reef, Fish Angler, Deer, Bear, Worm Head, Colossus, Mechanical Beast, Werewolf, Werewolf 01 Monstrous, Werewolf 02 Monstrous, Wolf, Wolf 2, Insect Head and Insect head 2 heads (and bird heads once they're added to the game, basically, most heads under the "Beastial" category, Simian, Toad and Big Mouth don't count because they're too human, haha (me being true racist)): 15
Cat Ears, Cat Ears Small headwears: 4
Bunny Ears headwear: 3
Long elven-like pointy ears (ONLY valid beastiness points if no other ears are in use, achieved by maxing the "ear points" slider and can give a catears-like effect, do not apply the "visible human ears" penalty if this is the case): 3
Rat, Wolf, Cat, Lion, Dino 01, Dino 02, Fin, Fin Duo, Fin Duo Large, Fox, Lizard, Retro and Shark tails: 3
Bunny tail: 2
Leopard, Tiger and Scales chest patterns: 2
Serpent and Animal chest materials (under "skin"): 2
Beast Mane, Fur Chest, Fur Chest & Back, Fur Cowl & Back and Fur Pelt chest wear costume pieces: 1
Fur Small, Fur Large and Fur Wild (one or two) shoulder pads: 1
Fur Forearm, Fur Short, Fur Long, Fin, Fin Large, Bat Wing Large and Bat Wing Small (one or two) bracers: 1
Leopard Skin and Tiger Skin head type patterns: 1
Cat (both) eyes pattern: 1
Dragon Fins side accessory: 1
Whiskers mouth accessory: 1
Beast legs: 1
Alien Claw, Alien Claw Armored, Monster Claw, Roin'Esh, Rhino, Wolf, Wolf Long and Dual Claw Halloween (one or two) feet: 1
Briefs w/ Scaly Tights, Leopard, Tiger, Fur, Serpent, Serpent Stripes, Serpent Stripes Two Tone, Crocodile, Briefs Serpent, Briefs Serpent Stripes, Briefs Serpent Stripes Duo Tone, Reptile and Reptile Spots legs patterns: 1
Werewolf Furlong Monstrous legs costume piece: 1
All skin/fur/scales colors within 72 degrees of eachother, aka 3 neighbouring columns of colors in the tailor color picker, not including the white-gray-black column: 1
All skin/fur/scales colors within 48 degrees of eachother, aka 2 neighbouring columns of colors in the tailor color picker, not including the white-gray-black column: 1
All skin/fur/scales colors within 24 degrees of eachother, aka all from 1 column of colors in the tailor color picker, not including the white-gray-black column: 1
Visible human mouth and/or nostrils: -1
Normal human clawless hands: -1
Visible human feet: -2
Visible human ears: -3

Please test this new system out and report the results so it can be improved or completely changed before being set in action, and please do so by making the least beast-like outfit you can that would reach the needed 14 points, and if you can, posting a screenshot

TeamSpeak server!

Sun Jan 15, 2012 4:29 pm by Falrox

I set up a TeamSpeak server! I plan to let it run 24/7 but may need to reboot the computer on which it runs occasionally. Downtime should be a very minimum.

Server IP: 98.211.27.71 (static so you can bookmark if desired)
Password: furrybeast

Quick-start guide to users new to TeamSpeak:

Begin by visiting www.teamspeak.com and in the top right, hover over "Downloads" and click "TeamSpeak 3". There you will see several files. Since I assume most players use Windows (since CO only runs on Windows), that's the section you'll want. Choose either Client 64-bit or Client 32-bit, based on the architecture of the PC you use (if you don't know, just pick 32-bit). Don't worry about mirror; just hit the download button!

Once downloaded and installed, it will run you through a first-time setup wizard to get your audio set up properly. Once you're all set, have your volume/mic adjusted and configured, and are ready to go, click on "Connections" in the menu bar, go to Connect, type in the above IP for the Server Address, enter your Nickname, enter the above password, and hit Connect!

BONUS: TeamSpeak has partnered with a team who develops software known as OverWolf, an in-game overlay to allow using several chatting clients, TeamSpeak included (but currently only 32-bit supported). If you want to download the software so you can actually open and look at TeamSpeak while in-game, feel free to do so! It is not required.

As stated, the server will be up 24/7, so any time you guys want to hop on, feel free to do so.
I've begun letting the computer shut down overnight from midnight CST Sunday to about 7:30 AM CST Monday to allow the computer to rest once a week. This is temporary until I get a new computer that can handle heavy load for extended durations.

Ranks

Fri Jul 22, 2011 3:01 am by Alvina

Ranks

Rankless
The Rankless
The default "rank" which every new member gets before assigned a proper rank, once we've made sure they're decent people and indeed use a beast outfit. This rank isn't the lowest rank, it's simply no rank at all. Violators of the rules will be stripped of their rank and made rankless.
Responsibilities: Show the guards you're a nice person to be allowed into the village and given a rank.

Hunter
The Villagers
The standard rank. Every beastie who shows a sense of decency, uses a beast outfit, and is friendly, will be here. It is the normal rank where people get promoted to from rankless once they've shown their worth and where most members will be.
Responsibilities: Have fun!

Cuteling
The Heroes
In addition to the standards of a Hunter, these beasties are particularly friendly and provide toward making the world a better place.
Responsibilities: Love <3

Warrior
The Knights
Cutelings can apply to or be suggested for the rank of Warrior. This is the rank of a minor officer and the lowest level of being in charge, a Warrior works for the better of the group and keep track of what the people desire. To be allowed this rank, atleast half of the higher officers who have been online within the past 2 weeks must approve, which must include atleast one Council member. This means that if there are 9 active Sentinels, Wise Wolves and Elders in total, 5 must approve out of which atleast 1 must be a Wise Wolf or Elder.
Responsibilities: You work with the Council to moderate the guild and look out for the members and their desires.

Sentinel
The Recruiters
In addition to the standards of a Warrior, these beasties have been entrusted the ability to recruit new members. Atleast 80% of ALL Council members active in the past 3 weeks must agree that a person is reliable to interview and recruit to be allowed this rank.
Responsibilities: Interview new members before recruiting them and work with the Council to moderate the guild.

Wise Wolf
The Council
The moderators, these beasties take care of the guild, keep an eye on members and events, enforce the rules, and generally make sure everything stays in order. Don't even ask to get this rank, if you're suitable and your help is needed, we'll ask you for it. Razz
Responsibilities: Take care of the SG, keep everyone happy, and teach the world to love.

Elder
The Royal Hall
The admins of the guild. Obey them. There are 5 at a time, replaced after 2 months of inactivity or if atleast 2/3 of the Council active within the past 2 weeks agree that an Elder is corrupt. In the latter case, ALL Council members active within the past 2 weeks must individually research the source of the claim of corruption to be sure before any action is taken. The real corruption could instead be another Council member trying to undermine the accused Elder.
Responsibilities: Inform the Wise Wolves of the Founder's orders, keep the pack in order, and be the king when the queen is absent.

Founder
The Queen
The core that keeps everything together as a whole.
Responsibilities: My word is law. Muahahaha*cough* xD

This list is the foundation of the SG system and may NOT be changed without my permission.
Check the "Last edited by.." at the bottom of the post.

Q & A

What's the Council?
The Council is made up of the Wise Wolves, the Elders, and the Founder.

Who are the officers?
The ranks Warrior and above are considered various forms of officer.

Does donating items or money to other members directy affect my rank?
No.

Does being hateful, specifically offensive, idiotic and/or just plain rude negatively affect my rank?
Yes.

Does how active I am directly affect my SG rank?
NO, absolutely not. Activeness should only come into question when the SG is full with 500 members and old inactive members must be weeded out to make room for new ones. Ofcourse, the more active you are the more chances you get to show your worth for a higher rank, but it doesn't directly affect any rank. If you are going to be away from the game for over a month, please inform the Council.

Please direct any further questions, comments, concerns, conclusions, concussions, suggestions, here.

Beasties Rules

Wed Feb 15, 2012 9:26 am by Alvina

It didn't all fit in the ingame information field, so I'll post it here and put a link to this thread ingame. Thanks to Janet for writing these out.

Rule 1: Be a beast!
What this means: Current Beasties members must have at least one Beast outfit for their use. This does not have to be used all the time. Those who wish to join beasties must visually display their beast outfit for evaluation by the interviewing recruiter.
Why this is important: Many Super Groups have themes. Usually they're built around similar interests, such as Role Play, or good PvP. Our theme is an appreciation for furry or scaly characters. The costume rule is to ensure that the Super Group remains true to their theme.

Rule 2: No Drama!
What this means: Avoid heated arguments between yourself and other beasties members, or a non-member. If you witness an argument within Beasties try to break it up as quickly and nonviolently as possible. Do not take sides. Feel free to speak with one or both individuals privately (not together!) to try to resolve the issue. Above all do not argue in public places such as Club Caprice or Super Group chat. Do NOT feed trolls, just ignore them.
Why this is important: Beasties isn't just a place for cool beast costumes to gather. We support a friendly relaxed atmosphere above all else and this can be disrupted by conflict. Arguing in Super Group chat can ruin everyone's day, and arguing in public can create the wrong impression of the group to those who witness it.

Rule 3: No Public ERP!
What this means: DO not perform erotic role play in places where others might see you. Never use Super Group chat. Do not use local chat in places like Ren Cen or Club Caprice. We don't mind if you do Erotic Role Play, so long as it is done privately such as through private messages, alone with your partner in team chat, or in a hideout through local chat.
Why this is important: Let's be honest, as a group supporting furries and scalies many people treat us with a certain amount of prejudice. We don't need to reinforce it by performing erotic role play in public. It's embarrassing for the Super Group, it's embarrassing for you, and if it bothers the wrong individual could get you into trouble with the game administrators. Don't do it.

Rule 4: Respect!
What this means: Be respectful to those around you in spite of their behavior (Within the limitations of your character if you are RPing as) Do not be disruptive to other around you. Do not introduce yourself to a scenario as the 'white knight' come to save the day, as most people are bothered by it. In a team, be respectful of the wishes and opinions of your teammates; don't take charge and make everything your way. Recognize the authority of the officers in the Super Group and defer to them when necessary. Try to help out members of your Super Group whenever possible.
Why this is important: They say that good relationships are built on a foundation of respect. Being respectful is not only a good way to make friends, but puts you in a good light, and by extension puts the Super Group in a good light. It also helps to deter negative opinions of the Super Group when you go against those expectations.

Rule 5: Behave!
What this means: Be polite to those around you, OOCly, and ICly providing your character permits it. Polite OOC behavior would be to avoid interrupting ongoing Role Play scenes or conversations. When people are trying to speak, do not jump around, do not speak over them. Do not be excessively OOC or complain OOCly during an RP scene. Do not attempt to take over a scene, unless you are the scene organizer. Do not use netspeak, such as "where r u?" instead of "Where are you?" Most individuals find it bothersome and disrespectful. Use complete words and proper grammar whenever possible. Do not spam, whether it be spamming chat with emotes, pleas for help or handouts, or the area around you with powers effects.
Why this is important: Much of the behavior described above is the behavior of a troll. Doing these things, even without the express intent to troll another individual, can get you labeled as a troll, hurt your reputation, and by extension the reputation of the Super Group. Any actual trolls are not tolerated in the Super Group and can expect a swift boot ouf of the Super Group once discovered.

Anyone found breaking any of these rules will be demoted or kicked. Report rulebreakers to the leaders.

What we ultimately expect of you as a member of the Beasties:
We expect an individual with a beast outfit who is polite and friendly to those around them. They don't go seeking trouble, and they withdraw gracefully when trouble finds them. Respectful to themselves, to others in the Super Group, and others in the world. Be helpful to your fellow members and keep these rules in mind and you'll do well in the Beasties.

Important Rules & Guidelines Regarding Uniforms

Wed Jul 20, 2011 7:11 pm by Janet Green

With the advent of uniforms in the group a lot of members have been asking questions. Is it mandatory? What is required in a uniform? what if I don't have the space for a uniform. I thought it would be useful to compile all rules and guidelines for uniforms in one spot for easy reference, as well as a Q and A for frequently asked questions.

Q: Are uniforms Mandatory?

A: No. We understand that not everyone has spare costume slots to dedicate to a group uniform and we're obliging of that. Even if you simply don't want to make a group uniform, you will not be punished for choosing to not make it. Uniforms are merely encouraged, not enforced.

Q: When must uniforms be worn?
A: Generally you can wear your uniform whenever you want. However, uniforms are recommended to be worn for SG events and gatherings predominantly. You may also want to wear it if you're seeking to recruit new members into the SG. You will not be punished for not wearing it, though.

Guidelines for making a Uniform

Style: Style can be whatever you want it to be. Battle Armor, tights, jeans and jacket, Indian attire, whatever you want. Make it fit with your character.

Colors: the dominant colors must be white and Crimson, the Super Group's colors. secondary colors can be most anything, as long as they don't distract from the primary colors of the outfit.

Emblem: Emblems are not required, but are encouraged. If you chose to have an emblem on your uniform it must be the emblem of the super group, the bladed star.

If you have any other questions that this does not answer please don't hesitate to reply and I'll answer you as quickly as possible.
